VMA General Practice Training is one of 17 regional training providers (RTPs) that deliver the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) Program to GP registrars.

The AGPT Program offers postgraduate doctors a range of options for urban and rural vocational training. Funded by the Australian Government, AGPT is a comprehensive, flexible and high quality training program, leading to Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

AGPT is the largest medical training specialties in Australia with 900 registrars entering the training program in 2011.The training program aims to provide medical practitioners with the values, skills and knowledge necessary for competent unsupervised general practice within Australia.
