In response to the expansion of Deakin University and Gippsland Medical School and the Commonwealth Government decision to consolidate and reduce the number of Regional Training Providers (RTPs), General Practice Education and Training (GPET) has allowed the newly merged Greater Green Triangle and Gippsland consortium to develop and recruit new training practices and work within the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulas. The new consortium and the VMA will be required to develop collaborative training delivery arrangements in those areas during the next three years. In discussion with GPET Chair A/Prof Simon Willcock, Dr John McEncroe (Chair VMA) was able to gain clarification on a number of elements of the contract offer pertaining to the sharing of the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsula regions. A/Prof Willcock was able to confirm that all current VMA practices in those regions would remain aligned to the VMA for the duration of the contract period, that any increase in registrar numbers for the merged consortium would not be off-set by a reduction in current VMA training numbers and that all VMA pilot programs, including the introduction of a rural pathway in 2011 would continue. Other points of clarification would be the subject of further discussion over the next eighteen months. Dr John McEncroe, in welcoming the clarification, committed the VMA to engaging in and supporting the continued development of the AGPT in Victoria. He noted that the VMA, through its considerable expertise, extensive resource base and sustained excellent performance over the last eight years, was well placed to take a leading role in the new AGPT direction and share its knowledge with the new consortium.

WES - Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 November 2009

Not sure how many WES days you have attended so far for 2009? cordially invites you to participate in
this ANNUAL social golf event on
Wednesday, 27 May 2009

Malvern Valley Golf Course
Golfers Drive, Malvern East

This years competition will once again be an Ambrose competition (please note the change in venue). This format ensures that everyone can compete and have a full round of 18 holes. It is a team event with 4 players in each team. Novice players will be teamed with those who believe they have mastered the game, so all levels of golfers (and non-golfers) are welcome and encouraged to take part! The rules will be sent to you beforehand, as well as clearly posted on the day.

The first team of 4 will start at 12:30pm sharp and the remaining teams at 6 minute intervals. You will need to arrive well before your allotted tee time (approx 30 minutes) to check in, and hire clubs/buggy from the pro-shop.

Depending on numbers, we should all be finished and assembled at the Camellia room with a drink and nibbles for the prize giving soon after 5:00 pm. VMA is generously providing some after match refreshments and a selection of prizes as well as paying green fees.

We are giving you all this detail so that you can plan ahead. Please RSVP before Friday, 30 April 2009. We can then confirm our booking on the course for up to 32 people. If interest is high, as we suspect it will be, then entries will be on a first come first served basis.

As the last three years have proven, this day will be lots of fun and we want to get as many participants as possible, so put this date in your calendar now and return the attached form by fax to 9822 9011.
