New RACGP Enrolment details
RACGP Fellowship exam enrolment processes have been simplified to an on-line enrolment process. The new on-line enrolment process will go live this Monday 19 March 2012 and will enable registrars to complete their enrolment and pay for it online at any time of their convenience prior to the enrolment cut-off for a particular exam.
The benefits of the new processes are:
• Reduced paperwork and opportunities for errors or missing information
• Enrolments are completed including payment in a single transaction
• Enrolment confirmation is sent immediately
• Ability to enrol in one exam segment, log out, and return at a later date to enrol in another segment
• There are extended enrolment periods providing greater flexibility for candidates:
- 12 weeks for the AKT/KFP exams (up from 8),
- 23 weeks for the OSCE exam (up from 8)
• There are separate and very clear closing dates for AKT/KFP & OSCE exams
• Exam result release of previous segments within enrolment period to allow for re-enrolments as required
• Removal of basic CPR as eligibility requirement for enrolment
• Recognition of previous enrolment – candidates who have previously enrolled just need to check their data for changes and select exam.
There will also be an increased number of approved exam venues to select from for the 2012.2 AKT & KFP exams.
A key change for RTPs to be aware of is the shift away from the RACGP requesting a Registrar Profile Report from candidates at the time of enrolment. This will no longer be required. Instead, RTPs will be sent a single excel spreadsheet template listing all registrars associated with their training program that have enrolled for the current exam cycle. RTPs will be asked to sign off that the candidates have completed the relevant training to sit the exam/s.
The RACGP recognises a misalignment in 2012.2 exams in regards to timing of training terms completion dates relative to enrolment windows. Therefore, for the 2012.2 exam enrolments, the RACGP will continue to honour a policy exception and allow registrars to enrol in the Fellowship exams, so long as they have completed their required training units prior to sitting the exam.
The RACGP will work with all RTPs to ensure that the 2013 Fellowship exam cycles are aligned with the end of training terms, thereby avoiding the need for any further re-work.
A more detailed update to RTPs and individual registrars will be provided on Monday 19 March 2012.
